The Schladming-Dachstein Region lies in the centre of the Ski Amade. Austria`s largest skiing area is not just the largest, but also offers more value. The heart of the region is the Schladming 4 Mountain Ski Arena, which links the skiing mountains of Hauser-Kaibling, Planai-Hochwurzen and the Reiteralm. A secret tip for skiers on smaller mountains of the area are: Rittisberg, Fageralm, Galsterbergalm, Stoderzinken, Riesneralm and Planneralm.
Skiing and hiking/walking all year round is made possible on the Dachstein Glacier, which also draws many a visitor because of the ‘Dachstein Sky Walk’. The Ice Palace can also be found on the glacier, from which you can not only see the inside of the glacier, but also directly into a glacier crevice.
A wide variety of events and highlights round off the many activities on offer in our area. The well known Night Race – the men’s night slalom, will be held in Schladming again this year – which draws over 50,000 spectators. In addition, the Audi FIS Ladies World cup on the Hauser-Kaibling. For pre-Christmas Advent atmosphere, the whole region is ideal to see traditional events which are still celebrated today and thus keep Austria’s traditions alive.
